Jury Returns Fraud Verdict Against CENTERPIECE HOLDINGS, LLC in Reynoso v. Centerpiece Holdings, et al.; Trial Court Grants Partial JNOV; Appeal Pending
San Diego, California – (February 2, 2026) — After a three-week jury trial, a San Diego Superior Court jury returned a verdict in favor of Plaintiffs Rodolfo Reynoso and Mauricio Ortega in a business fraud case involving Centerpiece Holdings, various Centerpiece entities and Former Centerpiece Holdings CEO Matt Jordan. The verdict was issued on May 29, 2024, in Reynoso v. Centerpiece Holdings, LLC, et al., Case No. 2021-00019573. At trial, the jury heard testimony from Derek Dunlap, CFO of Centerpiece Holdings and Centerpiece’s valuation expert Renee Howdeshell, who opined that the value of Centerpiece Holdings (https://www.centerpiece.life) fell within a range between Negative $42 million dollars and a Positive $12 million dollars.
The jury found fraud and awarded $2,720,000 in compensatory damages. The jury also awarded $412,322 against Centerpiece Holdings as punitive damages. The Court later awarded Plaintiffs $1,778,820 in attorneys’ fees against Jordan, Centerpiece LLC and Centerpiece USA, LLC, resulting in a total award of approximately $4.5 million.
After the verdict, the Court granted Centerpiece Holdings, LLC’s motion to set aside the verdict as to only that entity. The jury’s verdict as to Matt Jordan, Centerpiece LLC, and Centerpiece USA, LLC remain in place. Plaintiffs have appealed the ruling as to Centerpiece Holdings. A decision is expected in late 2026.
